Diagnosing & Treating Migraine in Primary Care Settings

  • Part I: Diagnosing Migraine

    Learn more about (1) what migraine is, (2) how to distinguish between primary and secondary headache, and (3) how to diagnose various types of migraine and other common headache disorders.

  • Part II: Acute Migraine Treatment

    Develop an understanding of nonspecific analgesics, migraine-specific medications, and nonpharmacologic interventions that can be used to abort a migraine attack.

  • Part III: Preventive Treatment Options

    In this lesson, we teach providers how to decide between various pharmacologic preventives (when indicated), as well as providing them with a variety of nonpharmacologic preventive treatment options to consider for patients.

  • Part IV: Managing Migraine: Other Considerations

    In the final lesson of Managing Migraine in Primary Care, providers will learn how to treat medication overuse headache and menstrual migraine, as well as how to manage migraine in specific patient populations (e.g. pregnant patients or patients with a preference for telemedicine).
